The Arkansas State Red Wolves were in need of a win to turn their season back around after losing to Appalachian State. Head Coach Blake Anderson told his team that the focus needs to be on going 1-0 every week. First up was Georgia State.

The Arkansas State Red Wolves had a tough game against a strong Appalachian State team last Tuesday. The loss leaves Blake Anderson’s crew at 0-2 in the Sun Belt Conference and their backs against the wall. The Red Wolves can still win their division and earn a possible rematch against the Mountaineers. In this week’s 5th Quarter Coach Anderson discusses the frustrations in last week’s loss and what needs to happen moving forward for his team to get going in the right direction.

This past Saturday, the Arkansas State Red Wolves began their conference season on the road at Georgia Southern. It was a physical game that went back-and-forth all the way down to the last seconds. In the end, the Red Wolves came up short, 28-21. Head Coach Blake Anderson caught up with us after the game for this week’s installment of “The 5th Quarter with Coach Anderson.”

The 5th Quarter with Coach Anderson: Game 4

The Arkansas State Red Wolves completed their non-conference schedule with a hard-fought win at home against UNLV, 27-20. The win leaves the Red Wolves with a 3-1 record heading into conference play for the first time in 23 years. They begin the Sun Belt Conference season this week on the road against Georgia Southern.

Arkansas State went on the road to face a tough American Conference foe in Tulsa. The Red Wolves came out of there victorious, ending a ten-year winless drought in out-of-conference road games. 1st Quarter: Despite not getting the final result you wanted, what did you take away from reviewing the game film this week? – “I think we saw a bunch of guys who desperately wanted to play well on that stage, and the magnitude of that atmosphere overwhelmed us a bit early on and led to us making some crucial mistakes early on in the game. When you play a team with the talent Alabama has, and they are every bit as talented as everybody thinks they are, you can’t make any mistakes because they will capitalize on them.

College football is back and Week 1 proved to be an exciting one around the country. One team that has high expectations this season is the Arkansas State Red Wolves. Led by Head Coach Blake Anderson, the Red Wolves have been picked by some to finish in the Top 25 and are one of the favorites to win the Sun Belt Conference.

When a successful coach has a tough season it’s not because he forgot how to coach overnight. It’s hard to win in college football. There are numerous factors that go into winning a single game, let alone having a winning season. So did losing his job at Auburn mean Gene Chizik was no longer wanted in college football? Did he all of the sudden become a bad coach? Well, if the amount of people reaching out to him to come to their school and coach is any indicator, I’d say that answer was no.

Football is a sport that is played by kids of all ages, from Pop Warner to the NFL. At every level, there are head coaches, coordinators and assistants. All of these coaches have career goals like you would in any other profession. For some, they like coaching right where they are, whether it be high school, college or one of the many levels in college football. There are coaches that prefer to be an assistant or a coordinator. They like the connection they have with their specific position group. Then there are coaches that know they want to be a head coach; and they want to be a head coach and reach the pinnacle of their profession. They want to be a champion.
